Did you hear about the young black woman who got fired from Baltimore’s WJZ? She was the co-host of the evening news. Seems she just didn’t “fit in.”

Then she covered a news story about a family that was devastated in a fire. After the interview, she went back with some blankets and other stuff.  This is a big NO NO. Her job was to cover the news, not be part of the news. Her boss tried to make it perfectly clear: “Pull that stunt again and you’ll be out on the sidewalk.” Seems she was a very slow learner.

But she couldn’t resist. She always involved herself in other people’s stories. She made the same mistake over and over and over.

Today Oprah Winfrey is a billionaire in the media industry. She hosts the highest ranked show of its kind in history. And she still hasn’t learned her lesson.

She still gets involved in other people’s stories.  She helps them. Over and over and over. She is one of the great philanthropists of our time.
